News & Events A glance in the rearview mirror – 10 highlights from 2023 December 14th, 2023 The end of 2023 is fast approaching and as usual, we wanted to reflect on the past year and everything WirelessCar has accomplished. From significant milestones in connected vehicles to new services and new customers, here are ten highlights from the past year that add to our sense of optimism for 2024 and beyond! 1. We signed three new OEM customers and launched our Smart EV Routing product In these turbulent and ever-changing times, WirelessCar has proven to be a trusted partner in our collaboration with OEMs. By combining flexibility and innovation with highly reliable and globally available services, we continued to expand our business with new OEM customers in 2023. One of our products, Smart EV Routing, hit the European market this fall with a global, high-volume OEM, with more models and deliveries planned for 2024. 2. We surpassed 10 million connected vehicles worldwide—and then 11 and 12 At the start of 2023, WirelessCar marked the major milestone of providing ten million connected vehicles with digital services in over 100 countries. Since our very first customer, Volvo Cars, we have grown steadily not only in the number of connected cars, but in people, OEM customers, and impact. This year was no exception. We surpassed eleven and then twelve million connected vehicles across fifteen OEM brands. As our CEO Niklas Florén reflected earlier this year, “Each new car validates our growth journey and shows that we evolve and bring innovation and scale to the future.” 3. We opened a German branch in Munich In June, WirelessCar announced the opening of an office in Munich, Germany. Theo-Han Jansen is responsible for the team working out of Munich. The new location facilitates an even closer collaboration between WirelessCar and both existing German customers and other global customers in the development and implementation of connected car services. 4. We expanded our smart charging offering with Plug & Save and Plug & Go This fall, WirelessCar presented a new pilot called Plug & Save, a service for OEMs that aims to minimize costs and environmental impact when charging electric vehicles at home. Built on insights from a research project with Halmstad University, Plug & Save offers daily recommendations regarding optimal charging. We have also made great progress with Plug & Go, a WirelessCar concept that addresses the challenges of public charging. Plug & Go supports a seamless experience with existing electric vehicles and charging networks. Its aim is to radically improve the EV user experience when charging through connectivity and convenience. 5. We welcomed two new members to our Management team WirelessCar welcomed Theo-Han Jansen as VP Strategy & Product Management and Anna Petersson as VP People & Culture this spring. Theo-Han Jansen has more than thirty years of experience in the automotive industry and has been responsible for implementing global connected vehicle programs for OEMs. Anna Petersson brings broad business knowledge and a focus on leadership and building culture. She has experience recruiting for the automotive sector and SaaS companies, as well as founding multiple companies. 6. We hosted our annual WirelessCar Customer Summit in Gothenburg Several of our OEM customers came to WirelessCar’s headquarters in Gothenburg this June to attend our Customer Summit. The meeting of industry experts included a look into where the industry will be in 2030 as well as interactive demos from WirelessCar and an analytics-driven discussion about accelerating EV adoption. 7. We focused on growing sustainably as a company worldwide For the past few years, WirelessCar has been on an incredible growth journey, recruiting talent from all over the world to support our global customers. This year, we opened the doors to our new office in Germany and welcomed new WirelessCar employees to our offices in China, the US, and our headquarters in Sweden. Today, we have 34 different nationalities represented amongst nearly 750 people. 8. We continued to invest in our offices and improve our hybrid workplace In 2022, we opened our expanded, renovated headquarters in Gothenburg as well as new offices in Beijing and Detroit. The investment in our workplaces continued in 2023, with greater focus on expanding areas for meetings with customers, partners, and internal planning. In addition to gaining more space for team connection and energizing events, WirelessCar’s Gothenburg office was a finalist in Sweden’s greatest looking office. 9. We have worked proactively to solve Sweden’s tech shortage As a software company with roots in Gothenburg, WirelessCar has taken a proactive approach to both the growing shortage of ICT professionals and the increasing number of women leaving the tech sector in Sweden. To address these challenges, we organized and participated in a number of events, including our own Tech Talent Summit, Dev:Radar conferences in both Sweden and China, and competence talks with TechSverige and Sweden’s Minister of Education. Through open dialogue and continued collaboration, WirelessCar is committed to promoting an inclusive environment and accelerating Sweden’s position as a leader in technology and innovation. 10. We enjoyed even closer collaboration with our colleagues and customers in China In 2023, WirelessCar attended and spoke at several great events and conferences in China, including the Shanghai Auto Show, the AWS Auto Summit in Shanghai, and the SAE China Congress & Exhibition in Beijing. Many of our colleagues from our offices in China participated as well as members of the Management team.
